Effective immediately, Manual 014: Liquid Classification and Well Status Fluid Type Determination for Oil and Gas Wells is available to licensees. This manual explains how the AER classifies liquids and determines well status fluid type. Licensees should consult this manual to ensure they receive the expected liquid classification and well status fluid type.
Within the manual, a brief description and process overview flowcharts have been included to describe the recommended process and provide additional clarity to stakeholders. Liquid properties are first examined to determine whether the product is condensate (i.e., gas) or oil. Once sufficient production hours have been logged and the representative liquids have been classified, the well status fluid type can be determined.
No internal changes to existing processes have been made with the publication of this manual. Licensees may continue to contact the AER Reserves Group through the AER’s Customer Contact Centre for clarification or questions.
Manual 014: Liquid Classification and Well Status Fluid Type Determination for Oil and Gas Wells is available on the AER website, www.aer.ca.
