Rocky 7 Pipeline Project
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) will hold a public hearing of applications 1823846 and PLA150215 at Govier Hall, 250 – 5 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta, starting on September 13, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. The hearing will also be webcast at www.meetview.com/aer. This webcast will only be available when the hearing is in progress. It will not be an official record of the proceeding.
The AER issued a notice of hearing on applications 1823846 and PLA150215 on February 24, 2016, and an amended notice of hearing on February 25, 2016, and has received a request to participate in response to that notice. All parties must be present to register at the start of the hearing.
Description of the Applications
Shell Canada Limited (Shell) applied under the Pipeline Act and Public Lands Act for approval to construct and operate two pipelines as follows:
- Main pipeline
- Location: Legal Subdivision (LSD) 9, Section 8, Township 40, Range 8, West of the Fifth Meridian, to LSD 13-01-040-08W5M
- Hydrogen sulphide (H2S) content: 0 mole per kilomole (0 per cent)
- Length: 6.99 kilometres (km); outside diameter (OD): 114.3 millimetres (mm)
- Spare pipeline
- Location: LSD 13-02-040-08W5M to LSD 12-02-040-08W5M
- H2S content: 0 mole per kilomole (0 per cent)
- Length: 0.43 km; OD: 114.3 mm
The spare pipeline would be a blind-end to blind-end pipeline (i.e., sealed on both ends) located within the same right-of-way as the main pipeline in anticipation of future pipeline construction.
